Site Review: Alphatrends.net – Brian Shannon’s Daily Stock Market Videos

Whether you trade yearly, quarterly, monthly, or even daily, you need to understand the current market conditions to help gain an edge. This is where Brian Shannon’s Alphatrends.com comes into play. Posting daily market trend analysis videos for many years, he successfully built a name for himself as a market expert.
Brian and his videos are the most subscribed investing videos on Youtube and he’s empowered with 7000+ Twitter followers (as of May 2009) and growing. Although he does not publicly disclose the feed subscriber count, I suspect he has well over 1000 subscribers (Bloglines alone has over 300 subscribers).
He recently transitioned his site into a premium site, charging the dedicated readers a monthly fee for his videos. While the design of the site improved dramatically with the new launch, I am a bit disappointed that he no longer offers his expert analysis daily for free. I really loved his videos, but I personally don’t trade enough lately to pay $59.99 per month.

Pros:
- His videos and his keen analyis are absolutely valuable. A full-time trader with 17 years of experience. This guy knows what he’s talking about.
- He posts daily, giving readers the insights necessary to gain an unbiased view on the current market.
- Brian is very personable and will not ignore you if you have any comments or questions.
- Brian also wrote his book Technical Analysis Using Multiple Timeframes which is very helpful for short-term traders.
- Alphatrends separates itself from others with its content. Even though the old website did not have “design” as a focus, Brian clearly off-set it with his valuable contents.
Cons:
- He no longer offers his daily videos and stock tips for free – $59.99 monthly fee.
- The site design is still not the most advanced of the bunch. Significant improvement over his previous site however.
- The daily videos benefits short-term traders more than the long-term traders. Even though the video benefits everyone, he is a full-time day trader and the videos reflect that.
Overall I would suggest everyone to take a look at some of his videos. You can find them on his site or go to Youtube and type “market trend analysis”. You won’t miss it.
