A snapshot of the past year
Current YTD Return: +$458
The last year of my investing endeavor has been interesting. We’ve had the subprime crisis that killed my mutual funds, the oil crisis driven by speculations that led to a big downfall on my investments, and recently the record jump in unemployment rate since 1986 brought down the Dow Jones Industrial Avg by 394.64 points. Despite all this, I am still up slightly which I’m grateful for. However, if I had known what I knew back when I initially started investing, I’d be up a LOT more.
Here’s the brief synopsis of my last yr in investing:
For the detailed info on quotes, I suggest Morningstar.com

“Stock market SUCKS!” At this point, I took out all of my investments because I thought it was impossible to make money on the stock market and gave up on the ’street’…..BUT I came back stronger and more determined, with added force in my bankroll.
April 2008 through Now-Re-invested $18000

Overall, I am positive $450. What? Only $450? I know…I was actually up $1200 until Friday June 6th when we had a whopping near 400 pts drop in Dow Jones. I took a $770 hit to the portfolio! Just imagine how much late night dinner I could have had or all the wardrobe upgrades I could have had. Yeah, life’s never that easy.
So, to start off my first official portfolio post here’s the current snapshot of my portfolio.

For the next few weeks, I’ll be posting more of my past learnings on stocks and investing in general.
