My Last Couple of Days

July 18, 2008 By: Hiro Category: Personal No Comments →

Current YTD Performance: +$1006

I have been working hard both in my day career and my investing career.  I have somehow gotten immune to all of the ups and downs in the market.  Even when I win or lose $1,000, it doen’t phase me either way especially now that I’ve gone thorugh the $4000 swing in a day.

I’ve been doing super well the last few days.  Thanks to the financials market rallying + some opportunities to short-trade.  Here are some of my recent activities:

1) Sold Freddie at $9.20 per share and made my $1,000 profit.

2) Re-bought Freddie Mac when the shares went down again that same day at $8.40 per share.

3) Sold Freddie Mac (FRE) today when it went up by $1.00 per share for another $200 gain.

4) Shorted DRYS with a profit of $100 today; re-shorted the stock again when it came back up in hopes of another tanking.

5) Sit back, relax, and pray.

Time after time, I’ve learned that patience is a virtue.  I strongly recommend you learn that quickly too.

How I Lost and Made $4000 In 6 hrs

July 12, 2008 By: Hiro Category: Key Learnings, Personal 2 Comments →

Current YTD Performance: -$1088

This is going to be more of a personal post, but I definitely want to share this experience. I’ve been doing really well the last few days in the market amid the crazy week Dow went through. As I track my performance at Covestor, I realized that I have been outperforming the S&P 500 this past 30 days. Man I am the MAN at investing…then Friday 9:30AM EST came, when my portfolio lost its value by $4000 within the first second after the opening bell. I think I almost broke my jaw while getting a heart attack. (more…)

Wish I Could Feed The Bull

Current YTD Return: $-2211

I recently came across a cool site through MyBlogLog called Feed The Bull. It’s a site similar to the concept of Digg where users can submit and vote on investing related articles. Users can also be granted points by submitting articles and voting for other sites. If you’re one of the determined, you can make it to top of the “user ranking” page. (more…)

I Am An Idiot

June 17, 2008 By: Hiro Category: Personal 2 Comments →

Current YTD Return: -$973

Yes…once again I proved myself I suck at timing the market (which people have already told me I can’t do). I sold my DRYS stock after tanking $15+ thinking it will start to go down. When I sold it, it was on a downward trend. Only, it came right back to +$2 by end of the day yesterday (it actually did go negative one point of the day). Guess what? It went up by $5.55 per share which would have given me additional $555 in gains…Please..if anyone is reading this tell me I’m just an idiot…cause I am. (more…)

Is Patience A Virtue In Investing?

June 11, 2008 By: Hiro Category: Personal No Comments →

Current YTD Return: -$1220

Wow. This is giving me ulcers. For the first time in my investing career (yea yea I know it’s only a year. Leave me alone!), I lost my portfolio value four straight days in a row! And it’s no small change. I’ve lost over $2500 now. *Throws up* My personal gut instinct says hold it. Market ALWAYS comes back. However, given how heavily invested I am in the oil related industries, that may not be the case. I’ll wait it out for the week and determine if I should cut my losses while I can or not. Any investing help you can give me is appreciated! At this pace I can’t keep my investing blog going because my portfolio will be worth nothing.

“Patience is virtue” Is it?
