Site Review: Tickerville.com Get Your Daily Technical Analysis Fix

Tickerville, hosted by Quint Tatro aka (the Q-man), provides us with detailed technical analysis videos almost daily (called Tape Talk).  He nicely integrates his market analysis with some of his own plays so that the followers can actually learn what he’s trading and his targets.

He is also an active participant on stocktwits.com with over 3000 followers @tickerville.

So who is Quint? Well his “about the author” site puts it best so I’m going to quote directly from his bio.

Quint Tatro is president and founder of Tatro Capital, LLC an investment management firm as well as managing member over a multi-strategy investment fund, FlexWater, LLC. Prior to launching his own firm, Tatro served as Vice President for a Florida-based investment company and hedge fund as well as a contributing columnist for a widely read trading and investing website. In addition to Tickerville, Tatro is a regular contributor for investment website Minyanville.com, and author of the alert based trading service the FlexFolio. Outside of trading, Quint and wife Brandie remain passionate about global missions and actively participate with Northwest Haiti Christian Mission as well as supporting friends located in the Slovak Republic.

As you can see, his credibility is clearly there, and you will notice that from his technical analysis videos.   He is also one of the recommended twitters at Stocktwits.com, which is not a reputation everyone earns.

What I like about the videos is that Quint covers a pretty wide array of different sectors including:  SPY, QQQQ, IWM, XLF, GLD, OIH, USO, SMH, SLX, EEM, MOO, IYT, IYR, IAT, and XRT.  I won’t describe what each of these ETFs cover but instead encourage you to watch his videos to learn more about them.  Here’s the example video from 6/7/09:

Pros:

  1. FREE technical analysis videos from a credible author
  2. The technical analysis covers many different sectors and ETFs
  3. Very thorough coverage with videos lasting longer than 20 mins

Cons:

  1. The site is pretty much about Quint’s videos.  Even though Quint is pretty responsive to the readers, there is a lack of “community”
  2. I would love to see more user interactive features allow Quint and readers to “interact” more openly.  His reader base is big, so why not take advantage?

What I’d Like To See Personally:

  1. I would love to be able to submit our own request to Quint and he will feature some of the request in his videos the next day
  2. Weekly event where users can submit their own videos and Quint can approve/feature them on his site?
  3. A feel for a “community”  – “The Q Land” perhaps :)

Overall, this site is great if you’re looking to get a feel on where the market is going for different sectors.  Whether you’re short-term or long-term trader, understanding the technical and the market condition is a must.  Quint has a solution just for that.

  1. Quint might be a little too busy to take up requests like that. It might take longer than one day to make the video if you do submit a request. I'm sure you can e-mail him with your advice on how to make the site better if you didn't already.
