Site Review: Timothysykes.com – Do You Penny Stock?
TimothySykes.com is an interesting investing site in that the owner (yes his name is Tim) trades and talks about penny stocks. Most of the other investing sites you’ve visited before most likely do not have the amount of contents related to penny stocks. If they are something of interest to you, this is a site you should definitely check out to see some of the penny stocks Tim is looking at.Tim made a name for himself by turning his $12,415 Bar Mitzvah Gift money into a fully audited pre-tax sum of $1.65 million from 1999 to 2002 by…you bet, trading penny stocks.
While he provides the readers with free insight on some of the stocks he’s looking at, his main goal is to convert as many readers as possible to some of the premium services he offers such as TIMAlert and his instructional DVDs. In my previous post, I decided to embark on a fun challenge by actually signing up to his TIMAlert service for $29.95.Tim intends to give the readers his daily insight on penny stocks and delivers the newsletter to the subscribers before the public eyes. He also sends out an alert when he himself makes a trade intra-day with his intended play. The idea is for the subscribers to be able to mimic his play and profit from it.
The experience helped me gain insight to the following regarding TIMAlert:
- Tim knows what he’s talking about when it comes to penny stocks. Most of the plays he made himself and some of the suggestions he made actually played out that way. Here are some of his plays I tracked.
- His trades are mainly short plays with stocks under $5. Unless you have brokers like Thinkorswim or Interactive Brokers, you will have a VERY hard time finding any stocks to short
- Given the nature of penny stocks and his strategy, you will be required to keep an eye on the stocks very frequently. His style is not “buy and hold” in any way. Instead, his plays are very quick, sometimes lasting only an hour or so. If you can’t devote your time watching the price action frequently, you won’t be able to keep up
- If you’re into penny stocks, willing to accept the risk, and have the time to day-trade, $29.95 is a decent deal. If you’re not one of them, don’t bother.
- TIMAlert subscribers can now receive alerts via SMS text message. This enhances your ability to respond quickly to his daily plays.
Pros:
- Great resource for penny stockers
- Pretty well designed with simple and easy navigation
- Content rich site with features like interviews, livestock, Tim TV, and forums
- Tim is an a**hole, which could be entertaining to read if you are into that style. Otherwise you may find him offensive.
Cons:
- Many of the services cost you money
- Tim is an a**hole, which could be entertaining to read if you are into that style. Otherwise you may find him offensive.
- He mentions his products way too much on his site. While I appreciate his business mentality to successfully monetize his site (which he does well), it just gets to be too much sometimes. We’re not saying your products are bad. It just gets old after a while. We get it Tim.
Overall it’s a good site to surf for any type of investors to read what he sees. Whether you ever get into penny stocks or not, it’s a good way to see different perspectives on the stock market.

wow. i was interested in your blog UNTIL you started promoting sykes. what a clown. have you actually BEEN to his site and READ the content? a HACK. nothing more. go there if you enjoy some immature braggart crowing about about how much of a GENIUS he is and how everyone else is a snake oil salesman….
haha I know exactly where you’re coming from. Like I said in my review, he promotes his products waaay too much. Quite honestly I don’t read many of his blog entries. But honestly pay attention to the penny stock plays he talks about. After following them for multiple days on TIMAlert, there is a lot of legitimacy around them. While it gets old seeing him talk about his products and testimonials all day long, I personally was pretty impressed at his plays.
Excellent post, well written.
I like this post, very useful!! thank you!!
I like this post, very useful!! thank you!!
I do trade, and this is exactly what i was looking for, nice work, thanks
I think this is really nice info about penny stocks.
Good reviews. I read & really like it.
it’s a good site to surf for any type of investors to read what he sees. Stocks which are traded for $5.00 or less than that per share over the counter (OTC) are known as penny stocks. People invest in these stocks because of their absolute low value. These are high risk investments.
Any one who succeeds in finding the trading pattern of penny stocks can easily deal with these stocks as he may have knowledge that the stock is going to hit price-wise. But even if you are lacking in that you can have picks on these stocks from http://www.pennyinvest.com by subscribing to their free stock alerts. I have been receiving its service for more than a year and it has never failed on any of its predictions.
